Basement windows are often partially below ground. Because they are these openings attract water. (Think “Gravity”) Often the correct repair is to install a custom window well drain designed to collect this water and remove it BEFORE it builds up to a point where it enters the basement. Window Well drains need maintenance, keep them free from leaves and debris and you can have years of worry-free enjoyment.
Sometimes the floor of a window well is best left as gravel to allow water to naturally seep into the ground as it is able relying on the window well drain only as necessary (typically when you get several inches of rain over a brief period of time).
