CRAWL SPACE ENCAPSULATION
This process involves using a vinyl reinforced vapor barrier for both the crawl space walls and floor. The vapor barrier installation contains the crawl space environment by separating the interior crawl space walls and floor from exterior moisture. CRAWL SPACE VENT SEALING
Crawl spaces have small vents in the walls designed to allow outside air to circulate under the living space floor to prevent moisture build up. This “venting” of the crawl space sounds logical but most often it simply provides easy access for moist air to enter the crawl space. Once inside, the heavy moist air gets trapped and creates the perfect environment for mold to grow. Crawl space vents should be sealed to prevent moist air from entering the crawl space. The process of vent sealing is a critical part of crawl space encapsulation and should never be overlooked.
